College Program Highlight – Hartpury College

We are one of the UK’s leading sports and land-based universities. Our stunning specialist campus covers 1,000 acres and is located near to both Gloucester and Cheltenham, in the west of England and just two hours from the exciting city of London.

Our specialism ensures that we remain focused and intimate, with 1500 students working towards foundation degrees (the UK equivalent of Associates degrees), honours degrees and postgraduate qualifications, to PhD level, in the fields of agriculture, animal science, sports science (both generic and applied) and business management.

  1. 93% of our students complete their courses successfully

  2. 65% of our students achieve 1st or Upper 2nd Class degrees (equivalent to A, A-,B+ in the Fulbright system)

  3. More than 97% of our students are employed, or in postgraduate study, within six months of completing their Bachelor’s degree International students are fully supported throughout the application process, in the application for their student visa and, of course, on arrival in the UK.

Away from the ‘classroom’, Hartpury, since launching its academy in 2001, has developed tremendous strength in UK student rugby, with our Men’s side having been national university champions in each of the past two seasons and seven of the past 12.

‘Hartpury RFC’ represents the institution in the RFU Championship, which is the second tier of all rugby played in England and just one level below the Premiership. The RFC offers students the opportunity to test themselves in a truly professional environment, without many of the risks normally associated with entering into a career as an athlete. We are the only university present at this level.

Not surprisingly, numerous Hartpury students have gone on to perform at the very top of the sport.

Recreational rugby is also available at Hartpury – our simple promise is that you will leave here as a better player.

Bachelor’s degrees in the UK are typically three years in duration (rather than four) and tuition cost for international students is comparable with ‘in-state’ options in the USA.
